HELENSBURGH'S Gordon Reid is off to a flying start at his latest tournament in the Netherlands.
The 31-year-old is competing at the ABN AMRO Open wheelchair tennis tournament in Rotterdam and played his first-round match against Nico Langmann on Wednesday afternoon.
He saw the 25-year-old Austrian off with ease, sailing through with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
Reid’s victory saw him set up a quarter-final tie against top seed and doubles partner Alfie Hewett.
The men’s wheelchair quarter- and semi-finals will be held on Friday, February 17 from 11am – though the time for the Reid-Hewett tie is still to be confirmed.
The tournament is the first for the former Hermitage Academy pupil since claiming his 20th Grand Slam doubles title at last month's Australian Open, and his 16th alongside Hewett.
Elsewhere in Rotterdam, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Stephanos Tsitsipas, and Daniil Medvedev will vie for a place in the men’s singles quarter-finals tomorrow, with Stan Wawrinka having already claimed his place in the last eight.
Play will draw to a close on Sunday, February 19, with all wheelchair matches available to watch live on the tournament's YouTube channel.
