THE first in a series of Helensburgh and Lomond fund-raising events for the Scotland’s Gardens Scheme (SGS) takes place this weekend.

Colin and Louise Burnet will be opening the gates to their garden at Stuckenduff in Shandon – covering three-and-a-half acres and home to some spectacular floral displays throughout the year – on Sunday, February 19 from 1-4pm.

The garden covers three-and-a-half acres and features mature trees, rhododendrons, azaleas, mixed borders and, between January and March, a magical carpet of snowdrops.

Admission is £5 – children free, and dogs on leads are welcome – and all proceeds will be split between the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, Georgie’s Genes (Muscular Dystrophy) and SGS charities.

There will be home-made teas and live music by Rhukulele.

To find Stuckenduff, enter G84 8NW into your satnav – or follow the A814 through Shandon and take the exit signposted ‘Kings Point/Queens Point’.

Then take a sharp left on to the slip road (where parking will be available); the entrance to Stuckenduff is opposite the post box.
