An event held in Helensburgh last weekend attracted hundreds of people and gave local groups the chance to shine.

Organised by The Rotary Club of Helensburgh Garelochside and Helensburgh Community Council, the Community Clubs event welcomed and showcased more than 60 groups and organisations from Helensburgh and Lomond.

A programme of entertainment was provided by the Music in the Square initiative. Groups such as the Helensburgh and Lomond Fiddlers, Helensburgh Strings, Hermitage Academy Third Rock Band, and Lomond and Clyde Orchestra played on the day.

Volunteers from Grey Matters did a roaring trade at their cafe, selling tea, coffee, and home baking.

The model rail layout brought by Helensburgh and District Model Rail Club was also a hit with the younger attendees, and the sunny weather allowed the rowing club, who had their skiff outside, to greet visitors.

A spokesperson for the event said: "Thanks especially to the young people from Hermitage Academy that volunteered on the day either by playing music, welcoming at the door or those on the tables representing their clubs.

"They were all a credit to the school. Also to the Hermitage Academy teachers and Mitie staff who supported the event in the planning and on the day.

"Thanks to the Morrisons Community worker Alison for ably welcoming and looking after all our community groups.

"Thanks to all the clubs and volunteers for the wonderful displays and the energy you brought to the event.

"From the feedback, we obtained from clubs and visitors, it was extremely successful and much appreciated by all those who took part."
