Luss boxer Hannah Rankin is hungrier than ever for her third world title after returning to winning ways on Friday night, comfortably defeating Logan Holler 100-90 in Wolverhampton.

Rankin was back in the ring for the first time since losing her WBA and IBO world titles against Terri Harper in a shock result in Nottingham last September.

The 32-year-old looked to be on the front foot from the get go at the Hangar Events Centre, with Holler giving her very little to worry about in the early rounds.

The American often looked disorganised across from the experience and skill of Rankin.

While it looked like the 10 rounds may be plain sailing for Rankin, Holler managed to step it up a gear in the sixth round.

The American landed a punch to Rankin’s left eye, drawing blood and leaving a nasty cut which was treated by the Scot’s team between the remaining rounds.

It was not enough to knock Rankin off course, however, with the former world champion recovering well and dominating in the final stages of the fight.

The bout was broadcast live online by BBC Sport, with thousands tuning in. Prior to the match, promoter Dennis Hobson said the partnership was a “landmark moment” for women’s boxing.

Speaking to the BBC after the fight, Rankin said: “First and foremost, I want to tell everyone – it’s all down to hard work, having a great team of people behind you, pushing yourself, and taking all opportunities.

“Get wins, get losses, get experiences, because it makes you a better fighter.

"And for me, bringing that third world title back to Scotland – that’s my pride, that’s my home, that’s what I want to do.”
