Gordon Reid and his doubles partner Alfie Hewett continued their winning streak over the weekend, securing their third title of the year at the Georgia Open.
The second seeds saw off France’s Frederic Cattaneo and Conner Stroud of the USA 0-6, 2-6 in their quarter-final match at Rome Tennis Centre, and went on to overcome Dutch duo Tom Egberink and Maikel Scheffers 5-7, 3-6 in the semi-final.
They faced fellow Brit Ben Bartram, who partnered Japan’s Tokito Oda, in the final, which finished 3-6, 0-6.
Reid also reached the quarter-final in the singles competition, being knocked out 6-2, 6-3 by his doubles partner – who went on to beat Oda 7-6, 6-1 in the final.
It was a good week for the British competitors, with Lucy Shuker also winning the women's double title with American Dana Mathewson.
This was Reid and Hewett’s first time winning the doubles title in Georgia, with the pair now having a 10-0 match win record in 2023.
So far this year, the duo have won the Australian Open doubles title, as well as taking the crown at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam.
They will look to continue their stellar form at the Cajun Classic, which gets underway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Tuesday.
