Helensburgh Tennis Club’s men’s over 55s team have been eliminated from the Spring Knock Out competition - despite a valiant effort.

Bill Ram, Bobby Kerr, Stephen Humphreys and Iain MacLaren were against Newland’s Tennis Club’s team on Sunday, April 2 where they were beaten in straight sets.

A club representative said: “Helensburgh Tennis Club’s men’s over 55s progress in the Spring Knock Out competition ended after coming up against a very strong Newlands team.

“The Helensburgh team of Bill Ram, Bobby Kerr, Stephen Humphreys and Iain MacLaren gave their all but were beaten in straight sets.”

The club currently has four teams: two ladies’ teams, four men’s, one men’s over 60s, and two ladies over 60s teams, who are competing in the West of Scotland League.

They also have a men’s team participating in the Calcutta Cup.
