A consultation has been launched on the future of Kilcreggan's ferry service.

Transport Scotland says it's carrying out the anonymous research to help them build their Islands Connectivity Plan.

That requires a series of community needs assessments for island and penisular communities linked by ferry services.

The survey states: "These assessments are intended to act as a guide for informing the future level of service provision on each route, building on current day services and usage.

"In order to inform the CNA process, we are undertaking a short survey on the use of the Kilcreggan-Gourock/Gourock-Kilcreggan route."

The survey closes on Wednesday, May 24.

Amongst the questions are asking the main reason for using the ferry, such as commuting for work or education, shopping, sports, social activities or visiting family and friends.

A commumity meeting was held in Cove in March over controversial plans for a new ship for the route and a new berthing facility for Kilcreggan.

Argyll and Bute Council held their own consultation on having a concrete pontoon, linkspan bridge and breakwater to allow for a larger vessel for the passenger service.
