A HELENSBURGH artist is launching his first exhibition this weekend showing off his collaboration with his music idol.

Ross McCully has produced a set of eight paintings as part of a series titled "Badlands on Fire", a creative partnership with musician Adam Nutter.

Adam, the former guitarist from The Music, launched his debut solo album of the same name and he approached Ross to create a unique canvas for each track.

Ross got each completed track from Adam without any direction or additional notes and them used the music alone as inspiration for each piece of art.

The Rowan Gallery, in West Clyde Street, will show the art on Saturday, June 3 from 12pm to 5pm.

Ross said: “Having been a huge fan of The Music for over 20 years I can’t believe that this opportunity arose.

"It’s been a dream project to work on and has allowed me to push myself creatively across different mediums, including creating a music video filmed in the local area.

"The response to the art collection has been overwhelmingly positive which has given me the confidence to take this further.”

Adam added: “The pieces he’s come up with are stunning, bursting with colour and vibrancy and perfectly capture the emotional essence of each track.

"The collaboration with Ross has been a cathartic celebration of joy and hope for me."

All are welcome to the Badlands on Fire exhibition launch this weekend, with refreshments served throughout. The exhibition continues until June 24.
