A SEX attacker who raped a woman while she was asleep has been jailed for seven years.

James Easdale took advantage of his victim at a property in Rosneath in June 2018.

The 46-year-old struck again when he raped the same woman in March 2019.

Easdale was sentenced by judge Lady Drummond at the High Court in Glasgow, having earlier been found guilty of two charges of rape.

Easdale, of Cardross, had denied the charges.

He was also found guilty of communicating indecently with two other women between 2016 and 2019.

He was said to have "repeatedly uttered sexual remarks" to each.

Those charges listed a number of locations, including Rosneath and Helensburgh.

As well as the prison term, Easdale will also be supervised for a further three years when he is released from custody.

Prosecutors stated the first rape occurred while the victim was sleeping and "incapable of giving consent" to sex.

The second attack involved violence, as jurors found Easdale guilty of pinning the woman's arms above her head, restraining her and pulling down her clothes.

Easdale was also put on the sex offenders register.
