A KIND-HEARTED animal charity has shared the heartwarming story of a hedgehog found 'cold and alone' in Rosneath.

Hogwatch Dumbarton Hedgehog Rescue were passed the animal, named Florian, after it was found in the village last week.

After a period of care, the hedgehog is now healthy and the charity hopes to release the animal later this week.

A spokesperson said: "Found under unclear circumstances alone and cold in Rosneath, Florian was passed from the original finder to another person who then contacted us on Friday.

"A 90 minute round trip to collect and bring it to us as the finder did not drive.

"At 58 grams, Florian was itsy bitsy but three days later was weighing in at a more comfortable 76.2g.

Helensburgh Advertiser:

"It’s always sad to see lone hoglets, and this little mite regularly suckles on the soft toy in the incubator for comfort.

"This little one has plenty of fight and a huge appetite, so hopefully Florian’s story will end in a release back to the wild as a big healthy hedgehog."

The charity has put out an appeal as it quickly runs through supplies including puppy pads, puppy biscuits and puppy mousse.
