A Ukranian professional artist will be developing her work during a “unique” residency at a Cove arts centre.

Cultural manager, theatre producer, and curator Veronika Skliarova will be a resident artist at Cove Park where she will work on her art for seven months between July 2023 and February 2024.

She will be given a tailored programme which will give her the opportunity to progress her work and think about the future of Ukraine’s art scene as well as have respite from the war.

A park representative said: “Cove Park is honoured to be one of five Scottish residencies to host Ukrainian arts professionals as part of a unique pilot residency taking place in 2023.

“A bespoke programme will be created for each participant, offering them time away from turmoil and a chance to reflect and think to the future for their own artistic practices, their organisations, and the wider art sector in Ukraine.

“Cove Park will welcome the Ukrainian cultural manager, theatre producer, and curator Veronika Skliarova in July 2023.

“We look forward to working with Veronika, and to connecting with the other residents in all the partner organisations.”

During her residency, Veronika will focus on contemporary Ukrainian art life and migration.

Veronika is the former director of the biggest arts and culture festival in Ukraine’s second-largest city Kharkiv.

This opportunity is available via the Scotland-Ukraine Art Residencies which is hosted in partnership between British Council Scotland, Creative Scotland, and The Ukrainian Institute.

The pilot programme enables six leaders and decision makers from the Ukrainian arts sector to visit and stay at arts organisations throughout Scotland.

Cove Park is an international artists residency centre which provides opportunities for artists of all kinds from the UK and across the globe to develop their work.
