When Helensburgh’s Sarah Henry was named the first ever Miss Loch Lomond Shores, little did she know she would be sharing the title with another girl.

Yet this is exactly what happened, after judges were left flummoxed as to who should be the winner.

The 12-year-old was picked to be Miss Lomond Shores along with five year-old Leah Harroway from Balloch.

Site manager Clare Gemmell said: "We couldn't bring ourselves to choose between Sarah and Leah!"

Professional face painter Joanne McFarlane and award-winning make-up artist Aileen Mullen, from Kilcreggan, stopped crowds of passers-by at Loch Lomond Shores as they portrayed a dusk and dawn body painting concept inspired by the loch.

Zoe Leveridge and Stuart Mitchell were recruited for the project - with Stuart being invited to take part after he was spotted on the loch in a powerboat.

Aileen said: “It was all Joanne’s idea. She came up with the design, and although she had never done it before, I am sure it won’t be her last time.”

AN annual coffee morning for adults and children who have sight problems or suffer from dyslexia or physical disabilities was held on the Peninsula to raise much needed funds.

The event for Calibre audio library, which supplies talking books, was held by Mr and Mrs Lidwell, who kindly offered to hold the function in their home in Argyll Road, Kilcreggan.

It was organised by Norah Perry, from Cove, who has been holding the event at her home since 2001, but on this occasion accepted the generous invitation of her friends, the Lidwells, to hold it instead.
