Helensburgh police have issued an urgent appeal for the public’s help in tracing a missing 14-year-old girl.

Lila McGee was last seen on board a train at Helensburgh Central railway station at 6.24am today (Thursday, September 14).

The train’s destination was Edinburgh Waverley though police say they believe Lila alighted in Glasgow.

Lila is described as around 5ft 6ins tall, slim build, with dark brown curly hair with a fringe.

She wears silver-framed square glasses and is believed to be wearing dark coloured trousers, dark trainers, and a white baggy jacket with pink/red sleeves over a black hooded top.

She may have the hood pulled up covering her head, and is thought to have a light coloured bag with her.

Inspector Barry Convery from Helensburgh police station said: “This behaviour is completely out of character for Lila and we are growing concerned for her welfare.

“We would ask anyone who may have been on a train heading towards Glasgow city centre from Helensburgh this morning (September 14), or anyone who may have seen her in Glasgow since this time, to get in touch with officers.

“Any sightings of Lila should be reported to police immediately or anyone who may have information that can help trace her.”

Those with information should call Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 0785 of 14 September 2023.
