Hermitage Park’s 2023 art workshop series has been popular with locals as all but one session has completely sold out - with only a few tickets remaining.

Limited places are still available for The Friends of Hermitage Park’s Botanical Study workshop taking place on Saturday, November 11 from 1pm to 3pm.

The session comes as part of their series of floral themed workshops and will feature three botanical art workshops and two floral design workshops, running until December 2023.

Delivered by the Helensburgh Art Hub and artist Rowena Comrie, the two-hour November session will allow participants of all skill levels to create a painting of a flower.

A spokesperson from the Friends said: “From a starting point of a single flower, this workshop is a two-hour journey ending with a completed painting developed from a swift drawing of a single bloom.

“Artists might use an initial simple line drawing to create a repeat pattern on a larger scale using selected colours to express ideas of beauty in growth and energy in nature.

“Alternatively the single drawing can be completed with watercolour taking inspiration from the flower paintings of, for example Charles Rennie Mackintosh or any other chosen artist.

“This will be a fun and relaxed class suitable for all abilities. Just bring yourself and some ideas!”

All materials will be included in the cost of the workshop.

The workshops were launched thanks to receiving a grant from the Scottish Government’s Supporting Communities Fund.

More workshops are set to come next year with the 2023 set just the first phase of the initiative.
