The newly appointed head of a Helensburgh health group is “keen” to take on the mantle of the role.

Helensburgh and Lomond Living Well Network [H&L LWN] has welcomed their new coordinator, Veronica Ferguson, as she takes over from Audrey Baird.

Veronica said: “I am keen to build on the success of my predecessor, Audrey Baird, to re-establish the vibrant network.

“Through ‘People Nourish People’ and working together we can help build a happier, healthier community.”

The Argyll-based Living Well Networks (LWNs) are for people with an interest health and the community.

They provide an opportunity for locals to find out what local issues matter, to plan activities and events together, and to network with individuals, services, and organisations with an interest in improving health.

The Networks meet at least four times a year to build partnerships and share information while they also organise and support local events.

During the meetings members will receive local updates and can listen to presentations by local and national organisations focusing on local issues.

The Argyll and Bute Alcohol and Drug Partnership [ADP] has allocated £15,000 of grant funding to the H&L LWN.

The funding aims to help the group promote the ADP’s priorities surrounding education; prevention and early intervention on alcohol and drugs; a recovery orientated approach to alcohol and drugs; improving relationships with alcohol and drugs for the whole population.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 3.15pm and will be held in the Helensburgh Community Hub and new members are always welcome.
