Business-savvy pupils at a Helensburgh school organised a successful Christmas fair - which proved to be fun for the whole community.
Local businesses and crafters set up shop at John Logie Baird Primary on Friday, December 8 to sell a variety of goods ranging from sweet treats, to Christmas decorations, to pamper products.
Taking charge of the event, pupils contacted all the local sellers involved, did market research, quality assured, and calculated the financial projections for the day themselves.
Head teacher Carolyn Randall said: “The children have worked exceptionally hard to get this all organised.
“They deal with planning, making the floor plan, contacting businesses, and have done financial management and profit projections.
“They’ve had a lot of fun and it’s really motivated the children to get on and engage – this has been a full term’s work.”
The pupils also organised fun activities to entertain the public as a raffle, Santa’s grotto, and games were also on offer.
Pupils also used the planning process as a chance to learn from local vendors who gave the children useful advice on running a business.
The project also allowed children to develop their creative skills as they designed the event’s posters and made items such as keyrings to sell on the day.
