THE last concert of the year in the ‘Sandwich Series’ at Rhu and Shandon Parish Church takes place on Thursday, December 28.

Music will be provided by the husband-and-wife team of Andrea Gajic on violin and Djordje Gajic on classical accordion - together known as Ab Libitum.

Both extremely proficient artists in their own solo careers, together they perform an exciting repertoire, and have given concerts in Scotland, England, Serbia, and regularly at the Victoria International Arts Festival in Gozo, Malta.

Andrea is head of strings at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and has played as a soloist with orchestras around the world, as well as recording for BBC radio, Bavarian radio, Lithuanian radio, and Radio Baltimore as well as appearances on the BBC, STV, ITV and Russian and Serbian television.

At the age of just 12 she played the Bruch Scottish Fantasy at St James' Palace in London for the 60th birthday celebrations of virtuoso violinist Yehudi Menuhin, and plays on a violin made by Nicolaus Gagliano in 1766.

Djordje, who is an accordion professor at the RCS, began his musical studies in Serbia at the age of six, finally graduating from the Russian Academy of Music in 1993 with a Master of Music degree and the honorary title of Solo Performer.

He, too, has played with orchestras round the world including the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symhpony Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber and more, as well as being a prolific recitalist in his own right, in Europe, the USA, Australia, Russia, China and beyond.

The concert starts at 1pm and the price of admission includes a glass of wine and a sandwich lunch.

The concert was originally due to be held on Friday, December 29, but has since been brought forward 24 hours.
