A WELL-KNOWN Helensburgh group behind several of the town's best-known annual events has announced a rebrand.

The group formerly known as the Helensburgh and District Round Table will henceforth be known as HEART - the Helensburgh Events And Reinvestment Trust.

The organisation aims to continue providing community events to residents in the Helensburgh and Lomond area, but hopes the move will enable it to include more members of the community.

The Round Table, organisers of events such as the Helensburgh Beer and Gin Festival, the town's annual fireworks display, and the Santa Dash at the Helensburgh Winter Festival, was previously advertised as being open to men aged between 18 and 45.

Mickael Paris, the group's chair, said: “This move represents a transformative step towards inclusivity, aiming to engage all citizens and businesses in the active development of Helensburgh.

"We hold immense gratitude for the foundation that the Round Table has provided us. For so many years we have witnessed the power of community and the impact of collective effort.

“As HEART, we are committed to nurturing this energy to its full potential.

"We are excited for this evolution and the opportunities it brings to involve more people, to innovate, and to ensure that the heartbeat of Helensburgh continues to pulse strongly.

"Our events have always been by the community, for the community, and as HEART, we will uphold this tradition with renewed vigour and an open invitation to all."

The Round Table was established more than 50 years ago and HEART is hoping its programme of events - including an annual Burns supper and, more recently, a wine festival to go alongside the established beer and gin event - will grow as a result of the rebrand.

HEART is planning to kick off its first year with a calendar full of events and say that more information will follow in the days and weeks ahead.

The group has also confirmed the date of the Helensburgh Beer and Gin Festival, which will take place on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18.
