A NEW date has been set for a public hearing into a controversial Helensburgh planning application.

Argyll and Bute Council's planning, protective services and licensing committee will reconvene to discuss planned alterations to Redholm, on 4 West Lennox Drive, at 11am on Tuesday, March 19.

The hearing will take place in the marriage suite at the Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre.

The original hearing on Wednesday, February 7 was adjourned due to the committee's chair, Councillor Keiron Green, having personal commitments and its vice-chair being unable to attend.

Owner Gail Crawford plans to add a modern extension, remove redundant chimneys, and take away the existing extension in the northwest corner of the Hill Head Conservation Area property.

Objectors fear the planned could result in damage to a 175-year-old tree nearby.

A total of 29 objections have been lodged with Argyll and Bute Council, with members of the public raising issues about significant changes being made to a conservation area home.

For those who would like to attend but cannot do so in person, the meeting will also be accessible from Microsoft Teams.
