A CELEBRITY antiques expert will be in Helensburgh later this week to take part in an Antiques Roadshow-style valuation day.

BBC’s Antiques Roadtrip and Bargain Hunt's Anita Manning will be taking part in a valuation day on Friday, April 19, to raise funds for the town's RNLI lifeboat.

The event which is being organised by the town's RNLI fund-raising branch, will take place at Helensburgh Sailing Club from 10am to 2pm.

Entry is £10 for three items to be valued by Anita and her team of experts from Great Western Auctions in Glasgow.

All proceeds go to the RNLI, which is celebrating its 200th birthday this year.

Katy Findlay, secretary of the RNLI Helensburgh’s fundraising team, said: “We are very excited to welcome Anita and her team to Helensburgh Sailing Club.

"If you have always wondered how much that vase is worth or you have a piece of silver or jewellery and think it might be worth something, bring it along.

"Anything goes for example, jewellery, coins, collectors items such as medals, object d’art, general items, furniture, pictures, watches, silver, gold and more. We will have tea, coffee and cakes while you wait.”

Tea, coffee and cakes will also be available and entry can be paid on the door.

Great Western Auctions will also be reducing their commission rate on the day for anyone wishing to send an item for auction.

Tickets will be available on the door or online via Eventbrite at Rnlihelensburghantiquesvaluation2024.eventbrite.co.uk.
