Three South Ayrshire schools have received glowing inspection reports from Education Scotland.

A team of inspectors visited Muirhead Primary School and Early Years Centre in Troon, Sacred Heart Primary School and Early Years Centre in Girvan, and Girvan Academy between November 2023 and January 2024.

They talked to parents, carers, and children, and worked closely with the head teachers and staff members.

Girvan Academy's report praised the strong leadership of the headteacher and supporting staff, the positive culture of learning across the school and young people's attainment.

They were also impressed with the comprehensive system for tracking young people's progress in curriculum across all year groups.

The inspection team were delighted with the positive and respectful relationships between staff and children at Muirhead Primary School and Early Years Centre.

Their report stated that a key strength for the school was the effective leadership provided by the headteacher, and the interesting learning experiences provided by teachers.

At Sacred Heart Primary School and Early Years Centre, inspection officers were impressed with how children are building their confidence and skills by taking part in a wide range of clubs, committees and groups.

They praised the nurturing culture that underpins all relationships in the school, and the teamwork demonstrated by the headteacher and staff.

Councillor Stephen Ferry, South Ayrshire Council's portfolio holder for education, said: "I'm delighted that in the last few months we've had three schools with glowing inspection reports.

"The headteachers and staff should be very proud of their achievements.

"They work tirelessly to provide the most nurturing and engaging environments for our children and young people, and it's when we get this kind of feedback that they know their hard work is paying off.

"I know they'll continue to work with parents and carers and the community to build on this success and maintain the high standards identified in the reports."
