Burnley’s Jordan North has been forced to cancel a DJ gig due to illness.

The Capital Breakfast DJ was set to perform at the Young Farmers DIY AGM, an event organised by the Young Farmers Community, in Blackpool on Sunday (May 5).

The 34-year-old had to cancel the gig at the last minute, due to suspected tonsillitis.

He also posted a picture of himself in bed adding that he was “gutted” to cancel.

Posting to his 856,000 Instagram followers, Jordan said: “So sorry to all the young farmers at Blackpool tonight but I’ve had to cancel my DJ set.

“I hate cancelling gigs but I’m in bed with a suspected bout of tonsillitis and it’s absolutely floored me.

“What a way to spend a bank holiday. I was looking forward to that gig too! So sorry.”

Jordan was recently announced as the new host of the Capital FM Breakfast Show.

He replaced former presenter Roman Kemp, who hosted the show for a decade.

Following Jordan's news, the BBC announced that Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing would be taking over his Radio 1 presenting role, alongside current and former co-host of North, Vick Hope.

In an episode of Jordan’s podcast Help I Sexted My Boss, which he hosts alongside etiquette expert William Hanson, Jordan explained more about his final Radio 1 broadcast.

According to Jordan, the BBC told him he had just broadcast his final radio show only 20 minutes before he was set to appear on another podcast called Dish.

Jordan said: “Listen to [Dish] because around 20 minutes before that recording I was called by the BBC to be told that was my last show.”

William said: “I am going to be serious now and I said this to you at the time. Considering you had the news that you did you were phenomenal.”
