NEW criteria for extra green bins in Argyll and Bute has been announced.
The council has updated its approach to providing second green bins, considering consultation responses and balancing need with responsibility.
This change aligns with the council's aim to create a climate-friendly Argyll and Bute, increasing recycling levels and meeting household needs.
The new criteria target households with the greatest need for additional general waste bins.
This includes those with children using disposable nappies, provided there are two or more children under the age of four, those with a resident requiring clinical/medical waste disposal, and households with five or more residents.
Households eligible for a second bin will receive them free of charge.
The council will assess these households every two years to determine continued need.
Councillor John Armour, policy lead for roads, transport and amenity services, said: "I’d like to thank everyone who took part in our consultation.
"We had a great response and your views shaped criteria that balance the needs of individuals and families, with environmental responsibilities."
The council also announced changes to the assisted bin lift policy, ensuring it is provided safely and consistently.
A medical certificate may be required as proof of eligibility.
Every household in Argyll and Bute will be required to put the name or number of their home on their bin.
This enables council operatives to ensure they are only uplifting domestic bins and not subsidising commercial waste uplifts.
The new policies will be introduced in around three months, with affected households contracted directly.
Information will also be available through social media, the council website, and other channels.
