A MEMBER of Helensburgh's lifeboat station is celebrating after passing a training milestone.
Thea Browne joined Helensburgh RNLI in September last year and is working towards becoming a full member of the crew.
In March, she passed her shore crew training which meant that she could assist with launching and recovering the lifeboat.
Thea is the only female member of the crew at the moment and has found everyone very welcoming.
At the time, she said: "“Initially it was daunting being the only female."
"However all the volunteers and crew members at Helensburgh lifeboat have been so welcoming and supportive. I feel very comfortable with the team.
"The RNLI has a structured training programme and I have been very impressed with the learning opportunities."
Thea is now one step closer to becoming fully qualified as she recently completed the final stage of her RNLI tier one training.
Tier one involves intensive training, including practical skills like navigation, towing, casualty care, and sea survival.
Howard Morrison, lifeboat operations manager, said, “Congratulations to Thea who has shown great dedication and hard work to complete her tier one training to become a qualified member of the crew.
"We are looking forward to her continued development in her role as a member of the crew. “
