A HELENSBURGH and Lomond MSP has offered her support to a new food donation collection.
Jackie Baillie recently helped to officially launch Tesco's Winter Food Collection, a scheme to provide aid to those in need over the festive season.
A collection point has been created at the Sinclair Street branch, allowing those wanting to help out to donate food items or contribute their pre-packed shopping donations.
Highlighting the significance of the drive, the MSP said: “I am delighted to back Tesco’s Winter Food Collection, which will help benefit the poorest residents in our communities this Christmas.
“This is an extremely worthwhile collection, which will help some of those facing hardship.
"I thank both Tesco, and their dedicated Helensburgh store staff, for their efforts in co-ordinating this worthwhile appeal."
Food charity FareShare has partnered with Tesco for this drive.
The charity will ensure all donations are redistributed via their network of independent organisations to frontline charities and community groups.
Thanks to FareShare's support, these contributions will be dispersed to organisations in Glasgow and across the west of Scotland.
Ruhel Majunder, Helensburgh store manager, added: "I thank Jackie Baillie for helping us launch this year’s Tesco Winter Food Collection."
