A BELOVED Helensburgh restaurant and cocktail bar has shared a touching message after closing its venue.

Mi Tierra Grill and Cocktail Bar shut its doors on February 14 after only a year of serving the town.

The Latin American restaurant and bar opened on the corner of West Clyde Street and John Street in October 2024.

They took on the site of the former award-winning Cattle and Creel and to celebrate its first birthday last year, prepared to open Mi Tierra Patisserie in the former House of Art shop.

Earlier this month, the owners announced that the tough decision to shut was made after increasing UK Government costs and "rising operational pressures have made it impossible to continue in a sustainable way".

The restaurant has told customers that gift cards will still be honoured and asks people to get in touch to arrange a booking or a refund.

After closing the doors to the restaurant last weekend, Mi Tierra shared a picture of the venue with a heartwarming message to their customers.

They said: "Saturday marked the final service for our little slice of Latin flavour, and our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.

"To every guest who walked through our doors, shared a meal, celebrated milestones, and became part of our story - thank you.

"Your support, loyalty, and kind words you’ve shared with us these past few days have meant more than we can ever put into words. This wasn’t just a restaurant; it was a community built on culture, family, and love.

"And to our incredible staff at Mi Tierra - there are truly no words big enough to thank you. Your passion, hard work, long hours, and love for what we built together made Mi Tierra more than just a restaurant; you made it feel like home.

"Every plate served, every drink made, every smile shared, and every guest welcomed was because of your dedication and heart. We are endlessly proud and deeply grateful for each and every one of you.

"From all of us at Team Mi Tierra, gracias for allowing us to serve you, laugh with you, and create memories together.

"Our team will carry your warmth and encouragement with us wherever we go next. To the end of an era."

After posting its goodbye message on Facebook, customers of the venue flocked to the comments of the post to share their devastation about the news.

Helensburgh charity Jean's Bothy said: "Really sorry to hear you have closed but wishing you all the best with the future, and thanks for being a great host of our annual Christmas lunch."

Paul Deakin, who owns Kath's Cafe in Helensburgh Central station, said: "Momo will be confused, with us not popping in post walk. Thank you for all the stunning food, drink, and company. But it won't be the last time you see us."

And a third person added: "We just heard you were closing last week and didn't have time to make it back for a final visit. You will be missed. Especially the margaritas! Can't wait to find out where you end up next."
