A PENINSULA fundraising group for the RNLI has raised almost £900 to help the charity continue its lifesaving work.
Members of the Cove and Kilcreggan branch of the RNLI and local helpers set out their street market stalls at the heart of Kilcreggan village on the morning of August 15.
They were left delighted to see so many people come along to support them, with a great total of £896.10 raised.
The weather stayed dry, with even a smattering of sun peeping through, and the crowds enjoyed all the homemade goodies on offer – with nothing left at all on the baking, fruit and veg, or home preserves stalls.
A great selection of plants grown in the villages did well too, and visitors also snapped up RNLI gifts, second-hand books and jigsaws, as well as raffle tickets.
“We’re always so impressed with the generosity of the visitors to our events and are thrilled we’ve raised such a great amount to help the RNLI’s lifesavers to continue their amazing work,” said branch chair Elsa Burgess.
“Before we’d even finished setting up, we had customers eager to get their hands on all the local produce we had - from baking to homegrown fruit and vegetables, and lots of homemade jams and preserves, as well as our locally grown plants.
“I’d like to thank all those who contributed items for sale and raffle, as well as everyone who came along to buy from us - every single penny counts.”
