LOCH Lomond has been named among the UK’s top three staycation destinations.

The findings come from research commissioned by Fastned, an EV charging network powered by 100 per cent renewable energy.

The study explored changing attitudes towards summer road trips, highlighting a growing preference for UK-based holidays and rising confidence in electric vehicle travel.

Scenic Scottish destinations including Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, Glencoe, and the Highlands ranked third among the most popular UK staycation spots for drivers this year.

The scenic destinations were beaten only by Cornwall and the Cotswolds.

The study found that more than half of Scots said they are more likely to take holidays within the UK compared to five years ago, just slightly above the UK average of 51 per cent.

It also identified the weekend of August 7 as the UK’s peak summer getaway period, likening it to Europe’s busiest travel days.
