SIX professional concerts have been announced by Helensburgh Music Society.
For 45 years, the society has dedicated itself to bringing high-quality musicians to perform in Helensburgh.
Following the success of the group's most recent concert season which achieved record audiences at the town's Civic Centre, it has announced a bigger programme offering for the coming year.
Until March, it will present six concerts that promise to captivate audiences.
The series opens on Sunday, September 13, at the Civic Centre with a duo of classical saxophonist Huw Wiggin and award-winning pianist Oxana Shevchenko.
The acclaimed performer and professor of saxophone at the Royal Academy of Music is renowned for “liquid gold tones and enviable breath control”.
He will be playing both soprano and alto sax and the programme includes tangos by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla.
There are also works, such as Rachmaninov’s ‘Vocalise’, that were originally written for other instruments.
Oxana is a Kazakh classical pianist, active as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborative pianist.
She was named the winner of the 2010 Scottish International Piano Competition.
As well as accompanying Huw, she will perform two solos; Debussy’s ‘Clair de lune’ and Ravel’s ‘Pavane pour une infante défunte’, both much-loved works in the piano repertoire.
Tickets can be booked and more information is available at helensburghmusicsociety.org.uk.
Advance tickets are also on sale at Destination Helensburgh, 28 Sinclair Street.
Penny Lewis, the music society’s chair of trustees, said: "We’ve expanded our series this year. This is in response to the success of last year’s programme, which received record audiences. We are sure there’s an appetite for more world-class music in Helensburgh.
"This concert marks the beginning of a very exciting season ahead, with a fantastic programme of world class musicians and performances coming to Helensburgh over the coming months.
"There’s something for every taste and repertoire that will be both familiar and new to our audiences. We hope you’ll join us."
Season tickets for all six concerts in the series cost £70, which is a £20 reduction on the cost of individual tickets.
Adult tickets are £15, students and those receiving government benefits are £5 and under 18s are only £1.
