A KIND-HEARTED teenager has raised funds to make sure children less fortunate than himself receive a chocolate treat this Christmas.

Jack Valentine, from Paisley, raised enough funds to purchase over 100 selection boxes which he then donated to his local foodbank.

The organisers of Glasgow South West foodbank, which runs out of Mosspark Baptist Church, have praised the 15-year-old for his "amazing generosity".

Jack will be visiting the foodbank on Wednesday to personally hand out selection boxes to each child who visits the foodbank, as well as members of the church’s youth groups.

When asked why he decided to dedicate his time and money to this worthy cause, he simply replied: “Every child deserves a selection box.”

Dionne Abbott, who operates the foodbank, said: "Jack told us every child deserves a selection box at Christmas, and we are overwhelmed by his generosity at such a young age to want to carry out such an act of kindness.

“Jack’s kind act is greatly appreciated by the foodbank which hopes that more people can contribute to their cause and ensure every child, even those in poverty, can experience a wonderful Christmas.”

Well done Jack !
