THE closing of the greens took place at Helensburgh Bowling Club at the weekend, and was marked with a fun game for all the members.

The game, on Saturday, was organised by social convenor Annette Garrick and Liz Smith with many differences in play to traditional bowling all are used to, like playing with the wrong hand and rotation of players.

The winners, Luke Healy and Alan Howie, were presented with their prizes in the clubhouse and, after the game, the evening finished with a Spider, under darkness. The winner was Liz Smith, who received her prize after the game.

After the game, club president Don Lilley welcomed Sadie Montgomery, sponsor of the Jackie Montgomery Memorial Trophy, and his wife Christine, sponsor of the C&D Lilley Mixed Fours. The members then enjoyed a scrumptious buffet supper prepared by the ladies and gents of social committee of the club.

The presentation of prizes then took place with the C&D Lilley Mixed Fours, the Gents Farquhar Triples and the Alistair Glendye X-Bowl Pairs and prizes being presented by Christine Lilley and the Jackie Montgomery Memorial trophy and prizes being presented by Mrs Sadie Montgomery.
