In the Advertiser published on Friday, November 9, 1984 the paper previewed Dumbarton’s visit to Parkhead the next day for a Premier Division match.
Full-back Martin McGowan was an injury doubt after having six stitches in his legs three weeks previous after a clash with Ally McCoist at Ibrox.
Dumbarton lost 2-0 at Parkhead with Mo Johnston and Frank McGarvey getting the goals for Celtic. McGowan started despite his injury but Sons goalkeeper Gordon Arthur was awarded man of the match in the Sunday Post, his performance kept the score respectable.
Dumbarton would go on to finish ninth that season and were relegated.
