Following the cancellation of Week 1 of the Tennent's Winter League competition last Sunday because of the atrocious weather conditions, Week 2 of the 7 Week competition got underway on Sunday in benign conditions.

he cancelled week will now be played on Week 8 (the spare week) of the scheduled period.

A very successful day of golf was achieved this Sunday and the 96 competitors enjoyed a great day out on the Course which was in really superb condition given the amount of rain that had fallen over the last four days.

The shots of the day were performed by Jamie Francis who scored 4 points with a gross 3 on the Par 5, 13th hole, closely followed by 8 players who each achieved a hole in 2 strokes on the Par 3 holes.

The winners of the Tennent's Winter League competition this week, on count back, with 46 stableford points, were Peter Mundie and Billy Greene, who each received a well stocked Hamper for their efforts.

On the same number of points and in second place, were John Sharp and Stephen Ford, who each received a large bottle of The Famous Grouse whisky, whilst in third place, with 45 points, were Alistair McKenzie and Billy Trail who received a sleeve of golf balls each.

Well played, by all our prize winners and better luck next week to our other competitors.

A great start to this year's competition and we look forward to the next 6 Sundays playing Tennent's Winter League in hopefully dry and wind free conditions.

On Saturday, HGC held the annual Greenkeeper’s Revenge Stableford.

44 players took part with Shey Donald emerging victorious with 42points.

In second place was Nik Petkov, 39 pts, and in 3rd came Graeme Proud with 38 points.
