IAN PORTER and Craig MacPhee have hit the wintry ground running with victory in the first two rounds of Helensburgh Golf Club's Frostbite competition.

Porter edged out the competition by one point on the opening day, December 3, when 47 players took to the course in bright and sunny conditions.

Porter's 25-point tally meant Rob Prideaux had to settle for second place on 24 points, with Andy Carson and David Reid joint third on 23 points apiece.

MacPhee took the honours in round two on December 10, scoring 24 points, with Bobby Berry, George Cairns and Stewart Fraser sharing second place after each returning 23 points.

The scorecard raffles were won by Stevie Scott in week one and Jim McKenzie in week two, while the 'hole in one' pot, still waiting to be won, now stands at £241.50.

Weather permitting, the competition will continue each week until February.
