Gordon Reid's hopes of a second successive Australian Open men's wheelchair doubles triumph were dashed in the tournament final in Melbourne.
Reid and his doubles partner Alfie Hewett, the reigning US Open and Wimbledon champions, were beaten in straight sets by long-time rivals Nicolas Peifer and Stephane Houdet.
Reid, who secured the 2017 title with Belgium's Joachim Gerrard, and Hewett lost 6-4 6-2 to the French pair at Melbourne Park.
The Helensburgh man's singles campaign ended at the quarter-final stage with a 6-1 6-3 loss to Japan's Shingo Kunieda, who went on to win his first Grand Slam singles crown
with victory in three sets over Houdet in the final.
