DAVID KENNEDY emerged as the overall winner of Helensburgh Golf Club's Frostbite competition as the final round of the tournament attracted a bumper turnout.

Kennedy just edged out the three runners up over the nine weeks of the even , Ian Porter, Bob Berry and Dave Allan.

The winner of the last week of the competition with 26 points was Peter Mundie, and in joint second place were Jon Sturgeon and Dougie Singleton both with 24 points.

Ramsay Howarth was the winner of the scorecard raffle, winning three Titleist NXT Tour Balls, a Titleist Glove and a 4 Ball at the Carrick courtesy of Alan Scott.

Another £19 was added to the hole in one pot, which now stands at £364.50.

This week there will be a Stableford competition as a last chance to win the hole in one pot.

* The club also held its own golf version of the Calcutta Cup on the same day as rugby's Six Nations clash at Murrayfield.

The England vs Scotland event was competed over 11 holes by 57 players.

Brian Grant and Scott Kennedy took equal first place with an incredible 31 points, with George Thompson in second with 30 points.

The England team, captained by Robert Campbell, were victorious against the Scots, who were captained by Stevie Scott.

Another highlight of the day was Danny Lafferty scoring a hole-in-one at the par three third.
