Ardencaple FC welcomed visiting teams from West Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire and Argyll to their annual gala day at the East King Street parks in Helensburgh.

This is the only day every season that all the Ardencaple teams come together to take part in a day of football and raise funds for the club.

Special thanks to Lochnell, Dumbarton Riverside, Glentyan Thistle, Helensburgh and Haldane for providing opposition to Ardencaple on the day, which was financially supported by Babcock and Helensburgh Toyota.

This year is a special year, being the club’s 50th anniversary year, and there are two special events still lined up – a sports dinner on September 1 and a Caple v Old Firm friendly on September 30.

Meanwhile, Ardencaple’s 2003s kicked off the new football season with a 6-0 League Cup victory over Drumchapel – setting themselves up perfectly for a much-anticipated derby clash with local rivals Helensburgh.

The Burgh team won the Michael McGinley Shield at the end of last season and will be in confident mood themselves going into the game, which will be played at the East King Street park this Friday, August 24, with a 7pm kick-off.

Ardencaple’s number one supporter Alistair Robertson said he “couldn’t wait” for the first derby of the season.
