RHU Amateurs bounced back from the disappointment of their West of Scotland Cup exit to Chryston with a crushing 6-0 win over Stirling University in the Caledonian League on Saturday.

With club captain Scott Leishman making a welcome return to the team, Rhu started the match in an attacking 3-5-2 formation – and the approach soon paid dividends, with Teague pouncing at the back post to net his first for the club.

Rhu were in control throughout the first half, but Stirling’s keeper was in good form and the hosts were unable to add to their tally before the break.

But Rhu kept up the pressure at the start of the second period, and Quinn latched on to a loose ball and slotted past the keeper.

The home side played some lovely football in the second half and added four more before the end through Adam Sharkey, Burns, Milne and McElroy – leaving a big crowd at Ardenconnel impressed with both the result and the performance.

Team: Proctor, Maule, Connolly, McVey, Milne, Quinn, Leishman, A. Sharkey, Burns, Teague, Stillwell. Subs: Gorman, McElroy, Scullion.

This Saturday, September 29, Rhu are at home to Strathclyde University in a League Cup tie. Kick-off at Ardenconnel is at 2pm.
