LOCH LOMOND’S second team conceded twice against the run of play in a 2-0 home defeat against Glasgow University’s fifth XI in their latest league fixture.

From the start the opposition were tough to keep at bay, but Loch Lomond managed to work well as an organised unit.

The home team were able to use the speed of Chloe Harrison and Jenny Tripney in midfield to tire out the opposition and, when combined with Tara Jackson’s distribution of balls from centre-midfield, were able to make some very promising attacks in the opposition D.

But Loch Lomond were unable to capitalise on the chances created and against the run of play, Glasgow University took two of their few direct chances and led by two at the interval.

After an encouraging team talk, the home team stepped back onto the pitch with their heads held high and put the current score behind them.

The defence pushed out and cleared the oppositions attacks time after time; midfield worked tirelessly running from goal to goal, defence to attack; and the Loch Lomond strikers had some great play at the top of the pitch, though the visitors’ lead remained intact.

As a result, even with some unlucky short corners, the opposition found it impossible to add to their tally.

The player of the match and opposition player of the match prizes were both awarded to Jenna Gallacher, with Tara Jackson runner up.
