THE ladies of Druids Curling Club got their new season off to a successful start with their annual opening bonspiel at Greenacres ice rink.
Six teams took to the ice on October 3 to play two games of four ends, followed by tea and scones, during which they could catch up with friends after a break of six months.
The winners, a team of three because of a late withdrawal, were Rosemary Robertson, Isabel Bone and Maureen Morton. The runners-up were Kathleen Cornwell, Pat Lyden, Elma Hannah and Gill Rogers.
The cub welcomes new members who should contact Marilyn McMeeking on 07810 238352 or Rosemary Robertson on 07783 601226. Beginners will be given advice on how to access lessons.
