ARDENCAPLE FC’s 2006 team were disappointed to drop home points in a 1-1 draw against Port Glasgow after dominating for long spells and creating most of the chances.

The first opportunity fell to Dorizon who, despite having only the keeper to beat, shot from distance and saw his shot comfortably saved.

The next Ardencaple chance fell to Murray who again was put clean through, but a fine double save from the Port Glasgow keeper kept the ball out of the net.

Port Glasgow saw a 20-yard free kick rebound off the bar on 25 minutes, but Caple continued to have most of the game and a snap-shot from Dorizon as half-time approached beat the keeper but went wide.

Ardencaple remained dominant after the interval, but chances came and went without a goal – and midway through the half Post Glasgow made Caple pay for their slackness in front of goal when their central midfielder was allowed to advance on goal and his high drive was too much for keeper O’Rourke as it nestled in the back of the net.

But the local boys kept plugging away and their pressure finally paid off when Godwin was released by Murray and calmly slotted home the equaliser.

Caple continued to have the better of the game in the closing stages, but Port Glasgow kept battling away. On the stroke of full-time Murray knocked the ball past the keeper after being sent clear by Sharp, but his shot was also wide of the far post.

Ardencaple bounced back from the disappointment of their home draw with a fine away win at Baljaffray.

Ardencaple got off to the best possible start with an early goal, and never looked back from there, with the goals shared around the whole team in a convincing victory.

This Saturday, October 27, Ardencaple’s 2006 team have a home cup tie against Broomhill on the 3G surface at Hermitage Academy.

The tie kicks off at 10.15am.
