GRAHAM THORLEY and Kenny Loch took first place in week 6 of the Tennent’s Winter League at Helensburgh Golf Club on Sunday, November 11.

With Loch standing in for Thorley’s regular partner Ian Harrington, the pair’s tally of 44 stableford points gave them victory on a better inward half ahead of John Ford and Andrew Carson, with Rob Prideaux and Michael Stephen third on 43 points.

Gordon Murdoch, Peter Haggarty and Don Griffin each received eight ProV golf balls for scoring the only twos of the day.

The average score on the day was 38.25, slightly down on last week.

A two-minute stop in play at 11am allowed the players to pay their Remembrance Sunday respects to those killed in war, including the 27 and seven HGC members who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars respectively.

With two weeks to go the team of Alan Latham lead the field with a total of 210 stableford points whilst the pairing of John MacMillan and George Cairns lead the Eclectic scoring with a magnificent total of 57 points so far – and it’s still not over!
