HELENSBURGH Amateur Athletics Club coach Darren Murphy was presented with the award for Adult Youth Coach of the Year for his work with the club at the recent LiveArgyll Sports Awards.
In addition to coaching four days a week, Darren also covers administration for the junior club, provides athletes and parents with updates on events, training and club news as well as running the club app.
Passionate about sport and keen to instil that passion in all the young athletes at the club, he inspires everyone to do their best.
Whilst he is committed to developing his own coaching skills by attending courses, he has also encouraged some of the young athletes to become junior coaches.
A club spokesperson said: “Darren never misses a training session or competition and always does everything in his power to make sure his athletes get the most beneficial opportunities.”
