LOMOND School’s senior netball team are making good progress in the Scottish Schools Cup after defeating Woodfarm High in the knock-out stages of the tournament’s ‘gold’ section.

It was a very fast and competitive game and Lomond managed to get an early lead in the first quarter which paved the way to victory.

When Woodfarm did get the ball they managed to successfully score but Lomond had the edge and had more possession of the ball throughout the game.

Rachel McAuley and Cara Cawley had a very busy game as centre and goal attack with Cara relentlessly scoring and, in the last two quarters Rosie Green also scored some outstanding goals.

The whole team worked very hard and demonstrated how strong they are together as a team. Grace Laverty and Catherine Laverty were voted players of the match from the opposition for their solid work in defence.

Catherine has developed over the weeks into a confident player with a good level of skill.

The girls’ coach said she was “very impressed with the girls performance and attendance at practice during a busy time of year”.

The open team are now through to the next stage and will play after the Christmas holidays.
