ARDENCAPLE FC had a famous visitor to their last training session of 2018 when former Celtic, Hibs and Scotland star, and ex-Dumbarton manager, Murdo MacLeod, popped in to see the boys hard at work.

Among the players he met during his visit were goalkeeper Mark O’Rourke, who finished his year in style with clean sheets for the 2006 team in their last four games of 2018, and Shaun Williams, Calum Sharp and Eden Ridge, who were more than happy to show off the 2006 team’s new Babcock-sponsored kit.

Meanwhile, Caple's 2004 team have had a hard start to life in the Glasgow League – but produced their best performance of the season so far to beat Summerston 5-3 in an end-to-end match at Hermitage Academy.

With a few players back from injury Ardencaple will be looking to pick up more wins in the new year.

Coach Jamie Kjorstad said: “This was a fine performance by the boys and was a well deserved victory in a very exciting match.”

Ardencaple would like to thank Graeme and Nicole Smith, the owners of Humbles café, for sponsoring the 2004 squad.
