A BUMPER turnout of 104 golfers took part in Helensburgh Golf Club's annual 'cross-country scramble' competition.
The players entered in teams of four, who were challenged by an unusual seven-hole route around the course in directions, traversing features not normally encountered in regular play.
The scramble format was applied to the first six holes, with all individual scores accumulating on the last par three.
In sometimes breezy but pleasant weather and with fairly dry ground, the winning net score of 31.8 was achieved by Shey Donald, Michael Donald, Kevin Robb and Andy Donald closely followed by Babs Robertson, Angie MacFarlane, Maria Carling and Gail Waddell with 32.7.
