MICHAEL Stephen was the star of the show in the sixth round of the annual Frostbite competition at Helensburgh Golf Club on Sunday.

Part of the competition includes a cash prize for any competitor scoring a hole-in-one at the par-three third hole – and after seeing the prize roll over for the past three winters without a winner, Michael scooped the pot of £500 on Sunday when he landed a superb ace.

The hole-in-one pot will restart in the next round of the competition next week – with the princely prize of £3 to anyone lucky, or unlucky, enough to land an ace for the second round of the competition in a row.

Sixty-four players took part in the sixth round of the competition on Sunday – a stage of the competition which saw a leaderboard produced for the first time.

Top of the table after six rounds is Craig McPhee, who has an average of 23 points against his name, with Bob Berry in hot pursuit on an average score of 22 points.
