HELENSBURGH Amateur Swimming club members were out in force at the Milngavie and Bearsden Winter graded meet in Drumchapel last weekend as eight swimmers from the club took part.

New personal best times were set over 17 events with all swimmers securing a personal best time in at least one event. Lance McMahon and Joseph Aylward also brought back medals, Joseph, a silver, and Lance, a silver and two bronze.

Triple medal winner Lance, swimming in the eight-year-old group, excelled over the weekend securing personal best times in four out of his five events. He won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke and secured a PB. He followed that up with a bronze in the 100m individual medley and a fantastic PB of 17.60 seconds and scooped a second bronze in the 50m freestyle and a PB.

Despite a very strong PB of 13.93 seconds in the 50m butterfly, he was just pipped to 4th place and also had to settle for 4th place in the 50m Backstroke. Joseph swimming in the 13 age group secured a silver medal and a personal best time.

Swimmers securing notable PBs were Della Smith with a massive PB of 37.91 seconds in the 100m breaststroke and a 10.47 second improvement in the 50m backstroke.

Isabella Brown secured a 10.46 second improvement in the 50m freestyle and a 9.59 second improvement in the 50m Backstroke. Millie White secured a strong PB of 7.46 seconds in the 50m freestyle. Milly Macartney secured a 6.61 second PB in the 50m backstroke and Lilly Boultby secured a 6.32 second PB in the 100m backstroke.
