KEITH FERGUSON led Gordon Murdoch, Alex Brown and David Forrest to victory in the latest match of Helensburgh Curling Club’s season – the Brunton Miller Trophy.

Ferguson’s rink took on Peter Proctor (skip), Lawrence Bidwell, Derek Spall and Doug Rintoul in the final of the competition at Braehead’s curling rink on March 5.

Ferguson’s rink eased into a two-shot lead after the second end, but Proctor and his team-mates fought back well to level the score at 2-2 after four ends.

However, the last three ends saw the Proctor rink ease clear, taking four shots to their opponents’ one to run out 6-3 overall winners.

Skip Keith Ferguson received special congratulations for being on the winning side in the competition for the second year in a row.

The 'Wooden Spoon' was decided in a battle between rinks Wardil and Barker, with the dubious honour going to Rink Wardil.

Helensburgh Curling Club is always keen to attract new members to take up the ‘roaring game’ and join the friendly group of enthusiasts who compete in events at Braehead throughout the season.
