PLAYERS, coaches and parents from Helensburgh FC’s 2011 team made the long trip to Kintyre last weekend to take part in the annual Campbeltown Football Festival.

This was the Helensburgh squad’s third year in a row at the Campbeltown festival, and coach Gordon Brodie described it as “one of the best yet”.

Gordon said: “The kids came up against some very strong teams in their five games, losing two, drawing one and winning two.

“The kids that travelled all played an absolute blinder and can be very very proud of their achievements.

“A massive thank you to the parents who have supported us, and continue to support us in everything we do.”

The team plays on Sundays and travels to take part in numerous festivals each year, and is keen to welcome new players of all abilities.
